What is Work Wonderland for Students?
Work Wonderland for Students is my comprehensive, fun, online coaching course and web application that helps students identify and plan their future direction.
Think of it like an interactive “how-to” guide.
It leads students to weigh their values, strengths and passions against their skills, knowledge and experience to determine the right study and career path, and develop a plan of action.
It provides a powerful online system that helps students map their future, as well as improve their ability to argue suitability for role.
How does it benefit students?
My easy-to-use online system combines the use of logic, creativity, curiosity and imagination to help students:
How does it actually work?
The course has nine simple exercises for students to complete. They include:
The exercises comprise short, easy-to-follow video instructions, supporting audio downloads and worksheets.
Most importantly, the course provides the KEY to unlocking their ideal career answer.
That KEY is their unique Map of You.
Designed as a web application, the Map of You is an interactive web page that can be accessed from any device. This is what it looks like:
What is the Map of You?
The MAP OF YOU is the repository into which students input their results from each of the nine course exercises. As they complete the exercises and add their results to the map, it will populate with information that’s entirely personal to them, derived from a holistic 360-degree analysis designed to gradually reveal their ideal study and career path.
Like the pieces of a puzzle, the MAP OF YOU builds to provide a single picture: a picture that contains the clues that lead them to the exact right path.
Once they’ve completed all nine exercises and have a complete map of data, there follow five exercises specifically designed to help students interpret their map information, and ultimately lead them to a conclusion.
Does it come with any extras?

Starting the course, I was both scared and afraid to even to consider what career to go into, as for me from a teenager’s perspective, planning the future is a scary task as today’s changing world can cause us to only focus on our short-term future goals.
Within the first few days of the course my nerves were quickly lost as I realised that not only is this course driven on helping you find a suitable career, but it also helps you learn more about yourself and your strengths.
As well as this, my initial thoughts that this course primarily focused on setting my mind on one career were wrong as it helped me to identify my ideal working conditions, which helped me identify multiple career paths I could go down.
Interestingly, the course forces you to use both sides of your brain, which is not something we normally do when focusing on a specific task. I was not used to doing this and it helped me expand my range of thoughts when recording my data.
In conclusion, the course helped me to understand the necessary steps to take when trying to plan possible future jobs that I could go into. Alison was very supportive throughout the entire process and helped me greatly when I navigated my way through each stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different to the study and career planning tools offered in schools and colleges?
Typical solutions offered by schools and colleges ask students to answer a lot of questions, assuming that they know what they are good at and interested in, and then tell them what study and career options match their information.
Work Wonderland is different because it helps students identify and connect with their strengths, skills, abilities and interests, and then generate their own study and career ideas off the back of that data, so they take responsibility for their choices, build confidence in their own decision making, and have personal ownership of their decisions. This means they are more likely to believe in their chosen route and be committed to it.
Do you provide any 1:1 support for students taking the course?
