Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m not sure what my ideal career is?

My DISCOVER programme is designed for you. Check out the details here.

I want a complete career change but is it really possible to achieve?

Yes. Once you have a clear idea of the right career path to pursue it’s simply a matter of mapping a specific plan to it and taking action in a timeframe that suits you and your personal circumstances. I’ve helped people make huge career shifts into completely different fields successfully, including from IT to the charity sector; from marketing to teaching; from the legal sector to sailing; from PR to health coaching; and from communications to hospitality. If you’re committed to it, it’s absolutely possible.

I’m not sure I can afford to start again?

Firstly, there’s no guarantee that you’d have to start again. Not every career change means you’d be starting over. Transferable skills and life experience often have a big impact on where you begin, and how quickly you can increase your income. I’ll help you work out where you stand on this.

Secondly, I ensure all my clients make a transition in a timeframe that suits their personal circumstances, so you never have to risk financial security. I help you determine the right transition plan, so you can build momentum towards your career goal at a pace that suits your needs.

Thirdly, when you’re engaged in work you love that reflects who you are and what you can most ably offer, you are much more likely to be successful, which increases your earning potential in the long run.

How do you determine what type of support I need?

Before we get started, we’ll do a 30-minute background call, plus I’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out, so we can scope out what stage you are at, where you want to get to, what’s currently missing, and where you feel underconfident, unsure or in the dark. I’ll then design a programme with key components that match your needs, which we’ll discuss and agree before our first coaching session.

How do you re-position my skills and experience to support a career change?

I had a 20-year career in PR and communications, which means I genuinely know how to create and communicate information in a coherent and compelling way. Writing and designing persuasive content is second nature to me, so I’m adept at translating skills and experience to match target careers, even if they seem diametrically opposed.

Am I too old to make a change?

If you’re alive, and driven to seek fulfilling work, then you’re not too old! A large proportion of my clients are in their 40s and 50s and have successfully identified and changed their careers. Check out these case studies and testimonials for inspiration.

Won’t I be throwing away years of experience and know-how?

Not at all. Whatever your career background, certain skills, experience and contacts you’ve amassed will have a part to play in helping you work towards and effect your career change. Nothing is ever lost and more than you think is transferable. My own personal story is a great example of how this works in practice.
