A story of adventure, purpose and passion

EP033 with Alison O'Leary & Jack Fleckney

Passion with purpose

In this episode I speak to the awe-inspiring Jack Fleckney, co-founder of Legend Expeditions. From playing professional rugby and serving as a Royal Marine Commando to running his own gym and leading world-class adventure expeditions, Jack’s career journey is a testament to following your passions and embracing reinvention.

Together, he and I explore his incredible story, the challenges he overcame, and how he combines his love for exploration with a mission to create meaningful travel experiences.

In this episode we discuss

  • Jack’s early career in professional rugby and how an unexpected pivot led him to join the Royal Marine Commandos.
  • Move into fitness and then adventure. Jack walks us through moving from being a gym owner to being a full-time adventurer today, and shares the lessons he learnt from the different business challenges.
  • The Atlantic Row. We get into how a transformative 40-day rowing expedition helped Jack regain his confidence and set a new purpose.
  • The beginning of Legend Expeditions’. We talk about how Jack’s current business, a luxury adventure company, came into being and how they specialise in Kilimanjaro climbs and Tanzanian safaris!
  • What’s next? You’ll hear Jack’s ideas for the future of his business, which include exciting plans for a boutique hotel near Kilimanjaro and potential TV projects.

If you’ve ever thought about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, or toyed with the idea of doing an adventure challenge, or wondered what a job might look like if you let your passions guide your work choices, then you’ll struggle not to be inspired by Jack’s story!

You can also learn more about Jack’s expeditions and explore how you can embark on your own adventure by going to his website www.legendexpeditions.com.

I’m hoping that Jack’s journey and story will have sparked your imagination or made you re-think what’s possible in your own life. Please share this episode with a friend, so you can do the same for them!
