‘Let’s Pretend’. How I retrained to become a Nutrition Coach

EP007 with Alison O'Leary & Sian Aherne

Treat discomfort as a teacher

These show notes give you some cliff notes as to what this episode is all about. This makes it easy for you to share with someone who you think should listen and, if any links or resources are mentioned in the conversation, they popped here for you.

In this episode we discuss

  • How Sian realised that all the negative thoughts she was having – was the thing that was holding her back (because nobody else really cares about what you’re doing)
  • How the game of “let’s pretend” actually was helpful in approaching change in a less serious way
  • Now that she’s not holding herself back and is proactively making steps – she can start to see the fuller opportunities available in her new chosen profession
  • How she still feels now, being able to do the work that she’s highly interested in becoming a subject matter expert in

I also share the concept of little acts of productive discomfort, which feels awful to start off, however the more do them, the more you become addicted to trying new things. Then you start to feel a lot braver…like you are having lots of mini adventures.

If fear and procrastination have been holding you back from pursuing the change you are looking for, try and give some of the things that Sian has done a go. You may just find they really help.
