Beat Your Four Fears®. Bravely Step Towards Self-Employed Happiness

Avoid the “compensation” trap

Are you a small business owner currently talking yourself out of the success you are entitled to? Or are you someone who is dreaming of going out on your own, but you fear you can’t do it or it’s not in you? If so, this episode is for you!

I’m joined by the awesome Mark Franklin, a consultant, trainer and speaker, with two decades experience supporting solo and small business owners to overcome their Four Fears®, Mark’s proprietary framework for tackling what holds us back the most from having the business of our dreams.

Mark’s mission is to help you see and believe that you ARE good enough, you are ready, you do have time, and that failure can sometimes be the greatest gift you give to your story.

In our conversation we talk about the work Mark does, how and why he took the plunge himself and moved from a corporate career in publishing into self-employment, his biggest learnings in doing so, and the surprise plot twist that was part of his journey.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Mark’s background and how he came to do the work he does today
  • Why Mark took the plunge from employment to self-employment (what pushed him over the edge to make the brave move to resign)
  • The concept behind Mark’s Four Fears® one-to-one work and programmes
  • The importance of getting to your own personal why – what’s the story that you are writing for yourself and others?
  • How we both “compensated” for the energy-draining work we were doing when employed, using healthy salaries, expensive holidays, meals out (and a designer wardrobe in my case!) to compensate for the long hours and unfulfilling work – except that it didn’t make us happy
  • Mark’s self-employment plot twist, and the common trap to avoid

Join us is you’re looking for some new ideas and a tonne of bravery and belief that your happy path to self-employment success is possible!

Bringing ‘Big Yes’ energy to everything you do. A career change born from a need to rediscover fun

Seek out your ‘Big YES’ opportunities

Ever felt like you are tired and burnt out, despite earning a decent income and having the outward markers of a good life…and then weirdly wracked with guilt because you ‘should’ be much more grateful than you feel?

That was Susan Hyatt in the early 2000s. She got to a point in her life where she was ticking all the right ‘success’ boxes that we’ve been conditioned to believe are the formula to winning at life. But, on the inside, she was tired, sad and had begun to believe that finding the kind of work and life that actually felt fun and worthwhile had completely passed her by.

She reached a breaking point and whilst in search of help, a book literally fell on her head at her local Barnes and Noble store. One that coaxed her to do some exercises to draw out what actually made her happy. That sparked the beginning of her journey and completely spun her off on a magical trajectory to where she is today. Loving life, serving the people that value her, and inspiring significant change in others too.

Susan’s story will have many things in it that you might recognise in your own life and your own internal narrative.

Join us. You won’t regret it.

In this episode we discuss

  • Susan’s story of how she came to do the work she does today – leaving a lucrative career as a residential real estate agent, and taking the plunge to become the multi-million dollar coach she is today.
  • How Susan didn’t know what her “thing” was, how she felt she was someone that “passion” had passed by, and how she was paralysed when trying to work out what fun looked like for her when her mum suggested she look after the kids and give her some time for herself.
  • The self-help book that changed the trajectory of Susan’s life and career.
  • The ethos behind Susan’s ‘Big YES’ energy concept and how it helps you create a life full of fun and passion, while saying ‘No’ to the things that deplete and drain you.
  • The idea of becoming a “time creator” so you have the time to honour yourself and your wants and needs.
  • Susan’s approach to turning 50 and redefining the negative idea of aging to celebrate being in your ‘Prime’.
  • The concept of Vitamin P – Vitamin Pleasure – and what it means.

If you have ever felt like you’ve been ‘left behind’ on the whole passion train of finding your so-called bliss and the things that light you up – Susan’s story will resonate. Deeply.

I have so many clients that have come from this place, believing that finding the type of work and lifestyle that genuinely feeds their soul is impossible, before discovering that it truly isn’t!

Come join us on this episode. Our conversation will demonstrate how once you’ve made the decision to take more control over your own happiness and what that looks like – the closer you will get to doing the things that gives you joy and feel like fun.
