How to Reboot Your Fun Quota

Consciously court lightness and joy

In this episode I’m covering the subject of FUN! Because frankly, many of us are not getting enough of it in our daily lives.

This episode has been inspired by the BBC TV series, Race Across the World. I’m obsessed with it and love the life insights gleaned from watching the experiences the contestants have while competing.

The latest series is a celebrity one, and in case you don’t watch it, the basic premise is that four celebrities, along with a chosen loved one, embark on an epic race across the world, with only the cost of a plane ticket to fund their travels and living expenses. The contestants have to get from the Amazon rainforest in Brazil all the way to the Andes in Chile, at ground level.

One of the celebrities competing is Jeff Brazier, the TV presenter, and he’s with his 19-year-old son Freddy. I was touched by the relationship between Jeff and Freddy, and the lessons coming through from Freddy about how to build fun back into life.

So if you feel like you could do with an injection of excitement, play, joy, laughter and just a general zest for life, stay tuned as I’m going to share four simple ways to reboot and amp up your fun quota, as inadvertently taught by Freddy himself!

In this podcast episode you’ll hear me share:

  • What Jeff and Freddy’s background is, before coming on the show (hint – it is riddled with trauma and sadness).
  • The four lessons I feel we could all learn from Freddy, who has been teaching his dad to dial down his serious lens on life, and take a lighter approach:
    • Get silly
    • Don’t overthink things
    • Look on the bright side
    • Make time for the people and things you love
  • How each of these lessons play out on screen with the choices and decisions Freddy makes that show us all the very simple ways to consciously court lightness and reboot our fun quota. (Honestly if you do get to watch it – it will make your heart so full!)

I’d love to hear how you are deliberately getting silly, not overthinking it, looking on the bright side, and making time for the things and people you love, so drop me a line as you play with these things and let me know how you’re getting on.

How to Remove Imposter Syndrome for Good

You can rewire your brain, for good

These show notes give you some cliff notes as to what this episode is all about. This makes it easy for you to share with someone who you think should listen and, if any links or resources are mentioned in the conversation, they popped here for you.

In this episode I talk about

In this episode I’m coming at you solo to talk about the very real challenge of IMPOSTER SYNDROME.

If you suffer from persistent self-doubt and second-guessing; if you feel like a fraud and worry that you’re going to be found out; if you regularly question your own intelligence or abilities; if you have a perpetual fear that you aren’t good enough; or your daily experience involves relentless worry, anxiety and overthinking, then this episode is for you.

All imposter syndrome does is get in the way of you fulfilling your true potential. It stops you going after your personal and professional dreams, and it feels bloody awful to boot, so come and join me as I share insights, simple brain science, and tools to help you dissolve it once and for all (Yes, it can be done!!)

  • What Imposter Syndrome is and looks like (so you can judge if it’s something you personally struggle with)
  • The three categories of thoughts associated with Imposter Syndrome so you can see how it manifests for different people
  • Why Imposter Syndrome isn’t something that you were born with and therefore stuck with (halleluiah to that!)
  • The five brain science facts that explain how Imposter Syndrome is created and learned
  • Really significantly, why and how you can un-learn Imposter Syndrome
  • I walk you through a real-life client example, to showcase how their imposter syndrome was generated, and why it felt very real

Towards the end of the episode, I also give you an exercise to do for yourself, teaching you how to create new neural pathways in your brain and gradually remove your imposter syndrome once and for all (have a go! I’d love to know how it goes, so do drop me a DM on LinkedIn or email message afterwards).

Ultimately what I’d like you to get from this episode

Your brain’s plasticity means that you can actively and consciously use your mind to rewire it.

The very fact that your brain is malleable and changes with every new thought, experience, emotion and belief you have, means that you can reprogramme yourself to believe new things and see things differently.

You can train your brain to form and strengthen new neural pathways, and permanently change how you think about yourself.

So, this means you hold the key to genuinely dissolving negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself, and building stronger positive neural pathways that support you in being the happiest, most confident and best version of you, or at the very least, being at peace with yourself on a daily basis 💛
